There is something holy about being hidden.
Not invisible. Not forgotten. But hidden by God.
Because being hidden by God is not just a season. It’s not something you outgrow, or rush to exit. It’s a divine strategy. A spiritual posture. A sacred wilderness where He both conceals and reveals. And if you’re in it, sis, don’t despise it, embrace it. There’s treasure in this place.
Being hidden by God is protection. It’s preparation. It’s positioning. It’s Him saying, “You are not ready yet… but you’re mine, and I’m working on you.”
Hiddenness protects you from premature exposure. There are things you may feel ready for, but the truth is, they’re not ready for you. Like Moses in the cleft of the rock, God sometimes covers us to protect us from the weight of what’s ahead. His glory is real. And so is the warfare. Some doors only look like opportunity, but they’re really setups for sabotage. God hides us to preserve us.
“For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me…” Psalm 27:5 (KJV)
Sometimes, God is not just hiding you from people, He’s hiding you from warfare you’re not yet graced to win.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
Psalm 91:1 (KJV)
The shadow, the secret place, is strategic. It’s not just a place of comfort, but a place of covering.
Hiddenness is where we’re prepared and purified in private. David was anointed king and sent right back into the pasture. Jesus, the Messiah, spent thirty years in silence before three years of public ministry. You may feel buried, but sis, you’re planted. Your roots are growing deep. You are not being ignored; you are being built.
“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3 (KJV)
In this place, God strips away the noise. The distractions. The people. The constant hum of approval you didn’t even know you were addicted to. In the hidden place, it’s just you and Him. No lights. No applause. Just silence, and glory. And it’s in that silence where He starts to speak.
It’s here where prayer becomes raw, tears become language, and silence becomes sacred.
Hosea 2:14 (KJV) – “Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.”
Notice, God allures you to the wilderness. Not drives. He woos you into hiddenness because He wants to speak tenderly to your heart.
Many long to be used publicly by God but skip the hidden wilderness, where intimacy is cultivated.
This is where identity is formed.
Not by followers. Not by likes. Not by applause. But by truth. In the hidden place, God deals with you. Not your ministry. Not your dreams. Not your reputation. Just you.
God doesn’t want your gifting to take you where your character can’t keep you.
He reveals the wounds. He addresses the pride. He uproots the lies. He breaks the craving to be seen and replaces it with the craving to be holy.
He shows you that hidden doesn’t mean forgotten, it means valued.
Think about it. Diamonds are hidden. Pearls are hidden. Gold is hidden. The Ark of the Covenant was hidden behind the veil. God hides what’s precious.
“He hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me…”
Isaiah 49:2 (KJV)
Sometimes the greatest warfare isn’t pain, it’s pleasure. The enemy knows how to distract us with beautiful things that pull us away from the refining fire of hiddenness. But when you stay hidden in God, distractions lose their grip. The hunger for recognition dies. The noise goes quiet. And your spirit becomes sharp.
This hidden place? It’s where your discernment is born.
It’s where tears become prayers and silence becomes worship.
It’s where surrender is not an option, it’s a necessity.
And yes, it’s lonely. But this is where intimacy with God is birthed. Where glory is cultivated. Where the real you is formed.
God hides you because He loves you too much to let you be revealed prematurely.
Even Jesus waited. Thirty years for three. Let that sink in. Divine timing matters more than visible impact.
Hiddenness is death to the idol of being seen. It is the death of self-glory. In the hidden place, you learn to be okay with not being clapped for. You learn to minister to God in secret and let that be enough. God watches the hidden life. And the reward isn’t always a platform, it’s more of Him.
The flesh craves recognition. Applause. Validation. But the Spirit is formed in silence and stillness.
So if you feel like no one sees you, no one understands you, if you feel buried…
You’re not dead.
You’re not disqualified.
You’re not behind.
You’re being made.
Let Him finish the work. Don’t force your unveiling.
Because when God reveals you, no man can bury you.
Your hidden season is sacred.
It’s a womb, not a tomb.
It’s revival in silence.
It’s your hidden treasure.
If you are in a hidden season, don’t despise it. This is holy ground. This is the place where God is building you, not branding you. Where He’s calling you closer, stripping you of what can’t follow you, and anointing you for a season yet to come.
